Renewal: Licenses expire at midnight on June 30 each year (Board renewal page); the renewal application is accepted if postmarked on or before July 1. CE is earned during the annual reporting period of July 1 through June 30 immediately preceding renewal (16.4.10.8 NMAC). The Board emails renewal notices on or before June 1.

Reporting
Copies of CE certificates are uploaded to the NM-PLUS online renewal application.
Grace period
No fixed grace period. Late renewal carries a $100 penalty per month or portion of a month in arrears (max $1,000). The Board sends a forfeiture notice by July 31 to licensees who have not renewed; failure to respond by the date specified (at least 31 days after the notice) results in forfeiture of the license.

New Mexico chiropractic physicians must complete a minimum of 16 board-approved CE hours annually by the time of license renewal (16.4.10.8 NMAC; Board renewal page). A maximum of 8 of the 16 hours may be obtained through distance learning methods. The Board may declare mandatory courses by majority vote (communicated by September 1 of the licensing year), but no standing subject-matter categories are currently mandated. The Board audits at least 10% of renewals; CE records must be retained for 3 years following the renewal cycle.
