Frequently asked questions

Everything about tracking your CE hours with CECourse.

Getting started

Is CECourse really free?

Yes. Tracking your CE hours, storing certificates, deadline reminders, and the audit-ready vault are free for individual professionals — free forever, no credit card required.

Which professions and states does CECourse cover?

CECourse covers 25 licensed professions across all 50 states, including nursing, dentistry, medicine, pharmacy, physical therapy, veterinary, and more. Browse the full list in our requirements section.

How does CECourse know what my board requires?

Tell us your profession and state when you sign up. We maintain a database of board requirements — required hours, category breakdowns, and renewal cycles — and map your progress against them automatically. Every requirement has a link to the official source, which we always encourage users to verify for the latest information.

Certificates & tracking

How do I add certificates?

Three ways: upload PDFs or image file (a photo of your certificate) directly, email them to your personal CECourse forwarding address, or claim them when a CE provider sends them to your account. We extract the course name, hours, and date automatically — you review and confirm before anything counts.

You can even forward your email from your CE provider, with the attachment directly to to your CECourse forwarding address and it will show up in your account.

What is my forwarding address?

Every account gets a unique email address (yours looks like upload+xyz@inbox.cecourse.com). Email certificates there from any address you own and they land in your review queue.

Do I have to confirm every certificate?

Yes. Nothing counts toward your hours until you review and confirm it. That confirmation step is what keeps your record audit-ready — no phantom hours.

What counts toward my CE hours?

Any board-accepted continuing education: live courses, conferences, webinars, and self-study, as long as your board recognizes the format. CECourse tracks categories separately so you can see, for example, live vs. online hours at a glance.

Note: We do not verify board-recognized CE providers that you may have obtained hours from, this is something you should do on your own.

Does CECourse report my hours to my licensing board?

No. CECourse keeps your record complete and audit-ready, but you file with your board yourself. We don't submit anything on your behalf.

What happens if I'm audited?

Open your vault: every confirmed hour links back to its original certificate document, with course, hours, date, and provider attached.

Can I track multiple licenses or states?

Yes. Select each license and state you wish to track in the onboarding process or revisit the license section after and add future licenses.

Reminders

How do deadline reminders work?

By default we remind you at 90, 60, 30, and 7 days before your renewal deadline, based on the profession and state on your account — and you can set any schedule you like in your Reminders settings. Keep your license details current so the dates stay right.

Provider credits & claim emails

I got an email saying my CE hours are waiting. Is it legitimate?

Yes — if you attended a course or conference from a CECourse-approved provider, they uploaded your certificate and it's waiting for you. Click the claim link, sign in (or create your free account), and the hours land in your vault. If you don't recognize the event, don't click — check with the organizer first. Either way, the credit stays waiting for you.

Do unclaimed credits expire?

No. Credits waiting for you never expire. We'll follow up automatically if you haven't claimed them.

I don't want these emails. How do I stop them?

Every claim email has an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing stops provider claim emails to that address; it doesn't delete credits already in your account.
