Details

40 hours per biennium (481—844.2). At least 36 hours in clinical case management, with at least 20 earned in person with the instructor in the same room (the remaining 16 may be independent study/online). 2 hours in professional boundaries and 1 hour in Iowa rules/statutes are required each biennium (2 hours of Iowa law in the first biennial period). Up to 50% (20 hours) of excess hours may be carried forward (eff. 6/18/25); the mandatory boundaries, abuse-training, and Iowa-law hours must be completed each biennium and cannot be carried over. Child/dependent adult abuse mandatory-reporter training applies on its own statutory schedule (841.6(4)), separate from the 40 hours. No CE is required for the first renewal except 2 hours of Iowa law.
