APRN renewal applications are due September 15 of odd-numbered years; the license lapses if not renewed by November 1 (per R.C. 4723.24).

Ohio Administrative Code Rule 4723-8-10 requires every active APRN license holder to complete 24 contact hours of CE per biennial renewal cycle. The rule's 12-hour advanced pharmacology sub-requirement applies only to certified nurse-midwives, clinical nurse specialists, and certified nurse practitioners, not to CRNAs. The first renewal after initial APRN issuance is exempt from CE. APRN licenses renew in odd-numbered years. Note on national certification: In addition to state renewal requirements, CRNAs must maintain national certification/recertification through the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA). The NBCRNA mandates 60 Class A credits, 40 Class B credits, Core Modules, and 850 hours of clinical practice every 4 years to maintain certification.
