Details

Florida APRNs must complete 24 contact hours per biennium per the Board's subject-area table: 16 general hours plus mandated courses (prevention of medical errors 2, FL laws & rules 2, recognition of impairment in the workplace 2 every other renewal, human trafficking 2 every renewal, safe/effective prescription of controlled substances 3 every renewal; domestic violence 2 every third biennium in addition to the 24; HIV/AIDS 1 hour one-time before first renewal). CRNAs holding current national certification (NBCRNA) are exempt from the general CE requirements; the exemption does NOT apply to the 2-hour human trafficking course or the 3-hour safe/effective prescription of controlled substances course. Renewal also requires submitting a copy of current national certification. APRNs are not required to renew their Florida RN license. National track (all states): NBCRNA Continued Professional Certification (CPC), now branded MAC (Maintaining Anesthesia Certification), requires 60 Class A (MAC Ed, assessed/prior-approved CE) + 40 Class B (MAC Dev, professional development) credits per 4-year cycle, plus quarterly MAC Check knowledge checks and 2-year check-ins. Excess Class A credits may count toward Class B. A practicing CRNA must satisfy BOTH the NBCRNA program and the state license requirement above.
