Connecticut APRNs must earn at least 50 contact hours of CE within the preceding 24 months, in an area of the APRN's practice (Conn. Gen. Stat. section 20-94d). Of the 50: at least 5 hours pharmacotherapeutics; at least 1 hour each in infectious diseases, risk management, sexual assault, domestic violence, cultural competency, and substance abuse; at least 2 hours on veterans/family mental health (first renewal, then every 6 years); and at least 2 hours on cognitive/mental health conditions such as Alzheimer's and dementia (first renewal, then every 6 years). First-time renewals are exempt. National track (all states): NBCRNA Continued Professional Certification (CPC), now branded MAC (Maintaining Anesthesia Certification), requires 60 Class A (MAC Ed, assessed/prior-approved CE) + 40 Class B (MAC Dev, professional development) credits per 4-year cycle, plus quarterly MAC Check knowledge checks and 2-year check-ins. Excess Class A credits may count toward Class B. A practicing CRNA must satisfy BOTH the NBCRNA program and the state license requirement above.
