Hawaii licenses the CRNA as an APRN. Continuing competency for renewal may be satisfied by current APRN national certification — there is no fixed state CE-hour total for the base APRN license. Conditional: APRNs with prescriptive authority must complete 30 CE hours per biennium (8 pharmacology + 22 practice specialty) within the 2-year cycle; this is not included in the base total above because Hawaii CRNAs do not necessarily hold prescriptive authority. National track (all states): NBCRNA Continued Professional Certification (CPC), now branded MAC (Maintaining Anesthesia Certification), requires 60 Class A (MAC Ed, assessed/prior-approved CE) + 40 Class B (MAC Dev, professional development) credits per 4-year cycle, plus quarterly MAC Check knowledge checks and 2-year check-ins. Excess Class A credits may count toward Class B. A practicing CRNA must satisfy BOTH the NBCRNA program and the state license requirement above.
