Details

The official nursing regulation (216-RICR-40-05-3, section 3.5) requires every nurse licensee renewing a license under the Part to complete 10 contact hours in the preceding two years, attested at renewal with random audit (retain documentation 4 years); a single 6-month hardship extension may be granted (section 3.5(F)). The regulation establishes no separate APRN CE tier and no pharmacology or topic sub-allocations, hence totalHours 0 per the dataset definition. APRNs must maintain national certification for their role and notify the Board in writing within 5 business days of any lapse or restriction (section 3.9(C)). UNCONFIRMED: 30 hours of pharmacology every 6 years to maintain prescriptive privileges is reported from statute (R.I. Gen. Laws section 5-34-39) but was not found in the current official nursing regulation text; vendor-reported 2-hour substance-abuse and 1-hour Alzheimer's training requirements do not appear in the official regulation.
