Verified on the official Michigan LARA Nursing FAQs (rev. 6/2024): 25 hours of CE within the 2-year period preceding renewal, at least 2 hours in pain and pain symptom management (Q6); 60-day grace period with a $20 late fee (Q5); specialty-certification maintenance required and audited (Q9). The Board's human-trafficking FAQ cites the March 31 renewal cycle; parity (odd/even year) depends on the year of initial issuance. Michigan does not issue a separate APRN license — NP is a specialty certification on the RN license denoting advanced-practice status, and no additional APRN CE hours are imposed beyond the shared 25-hour RN requirement, so totalHours is 0. Controlled-substance licensees need one-time opioids training per state rule. Implicit-bias training (1 hour per year of the license cycle) and one-time human-trafficking identification training apply to all nursing licensees; the human-trafficking training is separate from and does not count toward the CE requirement.
