Details

Maryland APRN certification renewal requires the renewal application, fee, and documentation of current national certification — there is no recurring fixed state APRN CE-hour total. The underlying RN license renewal separately requires one of: 1,000 active nursing practice hours in the prior 5 years, recent completion of a Board-approved nursing program, or 30 CEUs in the prior 2 years (COMAR 10.27.01.13 G). One-time requirements: approved implicit-bias and structural-racism training at the first renewal on or after April 1, 2026 (prior implicit-bias completion need not be repeated); a one-time 2-hour controlled-dangerous-substances training applies only to those applying for or renewing CDS registration authority. The Board's APRN renewal notice directs submission by mail or drop-off while Board FAQs also reference online APRN renewal — use whichever channel current Board instructions specify. National track (all states): NBCRNA Continued Professional Certification (CPC), now branded MAC (Maintaining Anesthesia Certification), requires 60 Class A (MAC Ed, assessed/prior-approved CE) + 40 Class B (MAC Dev, professional development) credits per 4-year cycle, plus quarterly MAC Check knowledge checks and 2-year check-ins.
