Details

Per Board of Nursing Rule 4.8(d), APRN renewal requires: (1) satisfying RN renewal requirements, (2) at least 50 days (400 hours) of APRN-role practice in the 2 years preceding application or 120 days (960 hours) in the preceding 5 years, and (3) current certification by a national APRN certifying organization (e.g., NBCRNA for CRNAs). Vermont requires no CE contact hours for APRN renewal. APRNs who prescribe controlled substances must complete 2 hours of CE on controlled substance prescribing every 2 years. National track (all states): NBCRNA Continued Professional Certification (CPC), now branded MAC (Maintaining Anesthesia Certification), requires 60 Class A (MAC Ed, assessed/prior-approved CE) + 40 Class B (MAC Dev, professional development) credits per 4-year cycle, plus quarterly MAC Check knowledge checks and 2-year check-ins. Excess Class A credits may count toward Class B. A practicing CRNA must satisfy BOTH the NBCRNA program and the state license requirement above.
