Renewal: Licenses are valid for fixed 2-year periods on a schedule set by the Office of Professional Regulation; the expiration date is printed on the license. No CE reporting is required at the first biennial renewal following licensure.

18 hours of Board-approved CE per two-year renewal cycle under the Vermont Board of Dental Examiners Administrative Rules (effective October 15, 2025), Part 10-4(c): includes the emergency office procedures course (2 hours minimum) and a CPR course completed within the last two years. At least 15 hours must be clinical or didactic dental/dental hygiene subjects; the remaining 3 may be nonscientific. No more than 2 hours each per renewal for basic CPR or the emergency office procedures course. Active-practice requirement: at least 100 hours of active practice or 50 CE credits in the previous 5 years (or a combination). New licensees are exempt from CE reporting until the first full two-year renewal period following licensure.
