Biennial continued competency can be met by 30 CE hours, maintained national certification, an academic program, or employer competency verification; APRNs are expected to maintain national certification. Prescriptive-authority renewal separately requires 20 pharmacotherapeutics hours every 2 years; with controlled-substance authority, 2 of the 20 must address prescribing controlled substances. Board randomly audits renewals; documentation provided on request.
