Attestation at online renewal through the Division of Consumer Affairs MyLicense portal; retain CE certificates for at least five years; board may request copies (random audit or investigation).
Grace period
APN certificate may be renewed within 30 days after expiration with renewal and late fees; after 30 days it is automatically suspended (N.J.A.C. 13:37-7.7)

Official NJ Board of Nursing CE FAQ verified: 30 contact hours in the 2-year period preceding renewal; 1 hour on prescription opioid drugs; up to 15 excess hours may carry over; retain certificates at least 5 years; board may audit. N.J.A.C. 13:37-7.8 (official NJAC via the NJ State Library) requires APNs each biennial period to complete the CE required for RN license renewal (13:37-5.3) plus the CE requirements of the national certifying agency, and current national certification is required at APN renewal — there is no separate APN hour total beyond the RN 30 hours, so totalHours is 0. Statute N.J.S.A. 45:11-47.1 (P.L. 2011, c.145) requires 2 credits of end-of-life care as part of the APN's total CE (waivable for specific individuals). The Board's 2011 rule adoption requires a one-time 1-hour organ/tissue donation CE for RNs (exempt if covered in initial education). The older 6-hour pharmacology/CDS requirement was a one-time requirement due June 16, 2009 and is obsolete. Licenses expire May 31 every two years, in odd- or even-numbered years depending on initial issuance, so deadlineParity is null. The Nurse Licensure Compact does not apply to the APN certificate.
