Details

Louisiana mandates APRN licensure for CRNAs. APRN renewal requires current national certification in each licensed role and population focus, with primary-source verification on file — there is no fixed state CE-hour total for the base APRN license. Conditional: APRNs with LSBN prescriptive authority must obtain 6 pharmacotherapeutics CE hours annually (12 per 2-year cycle) in their advanced role and population foci (LAC 46:XLVII.4513). Prescriptive authority is optional for Louisiana CRNAs: per LSBN Npop 05.12, a CRNA requesting to write orders for medication in relation to anesthesia care must be approved for prescriptive authority and hold a collaborative practice agreement — only CRNAs holding it owe the 6-hour annual pharmacotherapeutics requirement above. UNCONFIRMED: the official sources reviewed do not state the criterion determining whether a given licensee renews in even- or odd-numbered years; LSBN runs a renewal season every year while individual licenses are biennial. National track (all states): NBCRNA Continued Professional Certification (CPC), now branded MAC (Maintaining Anesthesia Certification), requires 60 Class A (MAC Ed, assessed/prior-approved CE) + 40 Class B (MAC Dev, professional development) credits per 4-year cycle, plus quarterly MAC Check knowledge checks and 2-year check-ins.
