100 hours of approved CE every 2 years: at least 40 Category 1 hours and 60 hours of Category 1 or Category 2 CME (17 DCMR Ch. 49 section 4906.4). The 100 hours include 2 hours in LGBTQ cultural competency and 10 hours in Director-designated public-health-priority topics. Per the DC Board of Medicine CE Requirements page (current as of 2026-10-01, corroborated by the official PA Reinstatement Application Checklist): 'PAs may substitute NCCPA certification for the one hundred (100) hours, however, they will still be required to complete the required hours of CE in the subject area of LGBTQ cultural competency and the public health priorities' — the NCCPA in-lieu qualification supersedes the unqualified 17 DCMR Ch. 49 section 4906.6 (2007) text. Caveat: DC Health notes a District-wide transition to birth-month renewal; during the transition 50% of required CE is accepted for <2-year terms, but the 2-hour LGBTQ and 10% public-health-priority hours remain mandatory.
