Kansas Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) CE requirements

Renewal: APRN licenses renew on the same biennial cycle as RN licenses (K.A.R. 60-11-113(a)): licenses expire on the last day of the licensee's birth month — an even birth year renews in even-numbered years and an odd birth year in odd-numbered years (K.A.R. 60-3-108; KSBN).

Details

30 contact hours of approved continuing nursing education (CNE) related to the APRN role per biennial renewal period; excess hours do not carry over; up to 15 hours may come from instructor credit (K.A.R. 60-11-113). APRNs initially licensed before July 1, 2023 may submit evidence of APRN certification at renewal. The 30 CNE hours also satisfy the RN license renewal requirement. National track (all states): NBCRNA Continued Professional Certification (CPC), now branded MAC (Maintaining Anesthesia Certification), requires 60 Class A (MAC Ed, assessed/prior-approved CE) + 40 Class B (MAC Dev, professional development) credits per 4-year cycle, plus quarterly MAC Check knowledge checks and 2-year check-ins. Excess Class A credits may count toward Class B. A practicing CRNA must satisfy BOTH the NBCRNA program and the state license requirement above.
