Per 68 Ill. Adm. Code 1350.116 (as amended at 43 Ill. Reg., 2020): 50 hours of approved CE per 2-year license renewal cycle, with a minimum of 25 hours in Category 1 CME as determined by NCCPA (a credit classification, not a topical sub-hour). Maintaining NCCPA certification alone no longer satisfies Illinois renewal; the state CE requirement is independent. A renewal applicant is exempt from CE for the first renewal of an Illinois license. Universal Illinois topic mandates also apply: 1 hour sexual harassment prevention and 1 hour implicit bias awareness each cycle, plus 1 hour cultural competency every 6 years.
