None confirmed; the Board may in its sole discretion grant waivers or extensions for extreme hardship, and licensees deficient on audit may receive 90 days to complete a corrective plan.

Board rule 04-210 Code Vt. R. 04-030-210-X §3.2 has a 20-hour tier for non-TPA-endorsed licensees, but the statute (26 V.S.A. §1716a) and the 2026 Act 171 summary state 40 hours are already required for all optometrists; statute governs on inconsistency. An advanced therapeutic procedures specialty license created by Act 171 (effective July 1, 2028) will add 5 CE hours in advanced procedures - not in effect yet. Retain CE documentation 4 years; random audits conducted. Current CPR certification required for all licensees in addition to CE hours (26 V.S.A. §1716a as amended by 2026 Act 171).
