Details

Reporting
CE is reported through the annual renewal process (course list/certification); the Board may audit CE.
Grace period
Licensees who have not renewed by Feb 1 are given 30 days' notice of a hearing before the Board; practicing after lapse can lead to revocation, suspension, or fines.

20 hours is the current requirement for optometric physicians (physician-certified); the current Board page (healthy.arkansas.gov) requires 20 total hours annually — all 20 may be live in-person, or 12 live in-person plus up to 8 distance-learning hours. Optometrists not holding optometric-physician certification need 12 hours annually (at least 8 live in-person + up to 4 distance learning). Older board rule text references 12 hours + 8 additional hours for physician certification; the current Board page's 20-hour figure is used here. CE must be completed during the calendar year preceding renewal. An online jurisprudence hour is also required annually. Optometric physicians must hold a current CPR card for renewal (per Board renewal materials).
