Texas holds Licensed Vocational Nurses to the same continuing-nursing-education requirement as RNs: 20 contact hours in the nurse's area of practice every two years, or a Board-approved national nursing certification. Conditional and periodic add-ons include jurisprudence and ethics every third renewal, one-time human trafficking prevention training, geriatric content for applicable practice, and forensic-evidence collection training for applicable nurses; the Board does not state hour amounts for these add-ons.
