Reporting
Sign the CE affirmation of understanding on the renewal application; the department audits a statistically relevant sample of licensees in odd-numbered years
Grace period
Postmark after July 2 triggers a late penalty equal to 100% of the renewal fee (total $350 per the board's renewal form); no formal practice grace period.

Confirmed against Mont. Admin. R. 24.168.2101: 36 hrs approved CE every two years; up to 12 hrs may be asynchronous; up to 4 hrs may be practice management; no limit on online synchronous CE. Exceptions: new graduates within 1 year of graduation and ACOE residency enrollees are excused for their first CE cycle. The rule contains no mandated glaucoma, pharmacology, or suicide-prevention categories (older third-party summaries citing a 40-hour tier with ocular-disease/pharmacology/glaucoma/suicide mandates do not match the current rule).
