West Virginia Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) CE category requirements

Per WV 19CSR7, APRNs must complete 24 contact hours of CE within each APRN renewal cycle: 12 hours in pharmacotherapeutics and 12 hours in clinical management of patients, from a Board-recognized provider (trackable via the Board's CE Broker account). Renewal also requires current national certification on file with the Board (verification sent directly from the certifying body to APRN@wv.gov). Eight of the pharmacotherapeutics hours may be used for renewal/reinstatement of limited prescriptive authority under WV 19CSR8. New licensees who prescribe, administer, or dispense controlled substances must complete 3 hours of CE in drug diversion, best-practice prescribing, and opioid antagonist training within one year of initial licensure. National track (all states): NBCRNA Continued Professional Certification (CPC), now branded MAC (Maintaining Anesthesia Certification), requires 60 Class A (MAC Ed, assessed/prior-approved CE) + 40 Class B (MAC Dev, professional development) credits per 4-year cycle, plus quarterly MAC Check knowledge checks and 2-year check-ins. Excess Class A credits may count toward Class B. A practicing CRNA must satisfy BOTH the NBCRNA program and the state license requirement above.
