Required categories

Verified against 5 CSR 11 (Continuing Education Requirements), effective 5/6/2025 (W. Va. SOS; authorized by 2025 Enr. CS for SB 369, W. Va. Code §64-9-6): 35 hours per two-year CE period (§3.1.1); CE documentation due February 1 of even-numbered years — Feb 1, 2026 and every two years thereafter (§3.4.5; dental license itself renews annually); no more than 80% of hours via supervised self-instruction, i.e. graded audio/video, correspondence, or computer courses (§3.7.2); at least 2 hours each period in drug diversion training, oral effects of tobacco use, or oral effects of substance abuse (§3.5.3); 2 hours of infection control training each period (§3.5.4 — infection control moved out of the §3.5.3 group by the SB 369 amendment); current healthcare-provider BLS/CPR certification required each period and may count toward hours (§3.5.5); each initial dental licensee must complete at least 3 hours of drug diversion training, best-practice prescribing of controlled substances training, and opioid antagonist training within one year of initial licensure (§3.2.1; statutory basis W. Va. Code §30-1-7a(b), which applies the drug-diversion/best-practice/opioid-antagonist training mandate to dentists who prescribe, administer, or dispense controlled substances). SB 369 also replaced the 3-hour drug-diversion requirement for dentists in graduate specialty/internship/residency programs with 2 hours of infection control training (§3.9.2). Records subject to random Board audit; 6-year record retention (§3.4.2, §3.4.4).
