Renewal: Renewal fee and completed online renewal application due September 30 every other year (OAR 818-021-0080); licensees renew in the parity matching their initial license year (odd-year licensees renew odd years, even-year licensees even years). The licensure year runs October 1 through September 30.

24 hours of continuing education every two years under OAR 818-021-0070 (Expanded Practice Permit dental hygienist: 36 hours), directly related to clinical patient care or dental public health: at least 3 hours medical emergencies in a dental office, at least 2 hours infection control, at least 2 hours cultural competency; no more than 6 hours teaching/scientific sessions, no more than 6 hours volunteer/authorship/board service/exam development, and no more than 2 hours Practice Management and Patient Relations. Nitrous oxide permit holders must also meet OAR 818-026-0040(11). Maintain records for at least four licensure years. Renewal due September 30 every other year in the parity of the initial license year.
