Report hours on the license renewal form; retain documentation at least two years for audit.

6 hours each calendar year under 21 NCAC 16I .0102; any or all hours may be online/correspondence courses with post-tests and certificates of completion. Courses must be directly related to patient care. Current CPR certification is required in addition (hands-on or blended course with manikin testing, AED, choking, rescue breathing; must always be current). 1 hour of substance-abuse/mental-health CE every two calendar years (21 NCAC 16I .0206) counts toward the annual 6. New licensees are exempt the first year licensed. Full-time dental hygiene school faculty may receive 4 hours/year credit. Retain documentation at least two years for Board audit. Annual renewal; renewal application due to the Board by close of business January 31 each year to avoid a late fee (21 NCAC 16I .0101).
