Per WSBN Rules Chapter 2, Section 13/14, an APRN demonstrates continuing competency at biennial renewal by submitting evidence of current national certification in the recognized role and population focus area (e.g., NBCRNA for CRNAs) — no state CE hours required beyond that. The only CE-based alternative is for APRNs recognized before January 1, 1999 who are not nationally certified and have maintained continuous licensure: 60 contact hours of CE related to the APRN role and population focus plus 400 hours of APRN practice in the last 2 years. An APRN with prescriptive authority must also submit evidence of 3 hours of CE related to responsible prescribing of controlled substances or treatment of substance use disorders each renewal. An APRN who also holds an active WY RN license need only meet the APRN competency requirements. National track (all states): NBCRNA Continued Professional Certification (CPC), now branded MAC (Maintaining Anesthesia Certification), requires 60 Class A (MAC Ed, assessed/prior-approved CE) + 40 Class B (MAC Dev, professional development) credits per 4-year cycle, plus quarterly MAC Check knowledge checks and 2-year check-ins.
