Report on annual renewal; PEP-certified ODs performing authorized ophthalmic surgical procedures must also complete a board outcomes form at renewal; retain certificates for audit

Confirmed against Mississippi Admin. Code Title 30 Part 2901, Chapter 4, Rule 4.1(a): 20 CE hours per calendar year, of which 16 must be COPE-approved, at a national/regional/state conference, or at a school of optometry/teaching institution. The MSBO Board Exam Study Guide (2026) confirms that beginning with renewal year 2024 all ODs must receive at least 8 hrs of live face-to-face CE and up to 12 hrs non-face-to-face per calendar year; a 2-hour narcotics prescribing/diversion course is required every 2 years (1 hr credited per year) regardless of DEA status; PEP-certified ODs must concentrate 6 of their 20 hrs on primary eyecare procedures and maintain in-person hands-on AED training if performing PEP procedures.
