Washington Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) CE category requirements

Required categories

Washington licenses CRNAs under the ARNP credential. Per WAC 246-840-360, ARNP renewal requires an active WA RN license, current certification from an approved certifying body for each designation, and 30 contact hours of CE obtained during the renewal period for each ARNP designation. ARNPs with prescriptive authority must complete 15 additional CE hours in pharmacology (pharmacotherapeutics specific to scope of practice) on top of the 30; prescriptive authority is renewed concurrently with the ARNP license. Two of the 30 hours must be health equity CE. One-time requirements: 6 hours suicide assessment/treatment/management training and telehealth training for those providing telehealth. The underlying WA RN license renews annually on a separate cycle. National track (all states): NBCRNA Continued Professional Certification (CPC), now branded MAC (Maintaining Anesthesia Certification), requires 60 Class A (MAC Ed, assessed/prior-approved CE) + 40 Class B (MAC Dev, professional development) credits per 4-year cycle, plus quarterly MAC Check knowledge checks and 2-year check-ins. Excess Class A credits may count toward Class B. A practicing CRNA must satisfy BOTH the NBCRNA program and the state license requirement above.
