20 hours per two-year renewal period; at least 50% (10 hours) must be directly related to delivery of OT services. The 50% direct-service requirement is longstanding VT policy (cited in California Board of OT materials) and was retained in the rules effective 2026-07-17. First renewal after initial licensure is prorated: 10 hours per full year of licensure; no requirement if licensed one year or less, 10 hours if held more than one but less than two years. Extensions or waivers possible for illness, hardship, or extenuating circumstances (§3.3(b)–(c)).
