Confirmed 2026-09-22 against the SC Department of Education: per State Board-approved guidelines (8/4/2026), an educator holding a Professional certificate (typically valid five school years) must earn 120 renewal credits during the five-year period. All educators may use Renewal Credit Matrix Options 1–3 (college coursework; SCDE-approved certificate renewal courses; SCDE-approved CEUs); educators employed in a SC public school district or participating renewal entity have expanded Options 4–9. Read to Succeed endorsement and Jason Flatt Act suicide-awareness training requirements may also apply per statute. The prior '60 graduate-level credits without a master's' category reflected the pre-August-2026 matrix and is removed under the current guidelines. Native unit is South Carolina renewal credits: 1 hour of direct participation = 1 credit; 1 semester hour = 20 credits; 1 CEU = 10 credits; totalHours preserved as 120 credits, not converted.
