Pennsylvania's CRNA license was created by Act 60 of 2021; per the State Board of Nursing's draft regulation (16A-5145) discussed in October 2025 Board minutes, CRNA renewal occurs through renewal of the RN license with a minimum of 30 hours of Board-accepted CE plus demonstration of current national certification as a CRNA. Pennsylvania RNs renew biennially (30 CE hours including 2 hours of child abuse recognition/reporting per 49 Pa Code section 21.131) on Board-assigned expiration dates of April 30 or October 31 of even- or odd-numbered years; there is no single universal date, so no month/day/parity is assigned here. Note on national certification: In addition to state renewal requirements, CRNAs must maintain national certification/recertification through the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA). The NBCRNA mandates 60 Class A credits, 40 Class B credits, Core Modules, and 850 hours of clinical practice every 4 years to maintain certification.
