Details

Florida requires one contact hour of CE for each calendar month of the licensure cycle (24 hours for a full biennium), per Florida Administrative Code Rule 64B9-5.002. Mandatory courses within those hours: 2 hours prevention of medical errors each biennium; 1 hour HIV/AIDS in the first biennium only; 2 hours Florida laws and rules each biennium; 2 hours recognizing impairment in the workplace every other biennium; 2 hours human trafficking each biennium (for biennial renewal on or after January 1, 2019). A domestic-violence course is required every third biennium; the rule states its duration as 'a course,' and Board CE guidance and CE providers uniformly describe it as 2 hours in addition to the 24-hour base. Those licensed by examination within a biennium are exempt from CE for that biennium. CE is tracked and reported through CE Broker, the Board's official CE tracking system.
