Renewal: Credentials expire February 28 of odd-numbered years (per DSPS renewal schedule). A credential holder applies for renewal after the renewal date under the late-renewal rules in Wis. Admin. Code ch. MPSW 1.

30 CE hours during each 2-year credential period; at least 4 hours must be in social work ethics and boundaries (Wis. Admin. Code ch. MPSW 8, recodified in MPSW 19; Wis. Stat. s. 457.22 caps CE at 30 hours). The social worker section may waive all or part of the requirements for prolonged illness, disability, or exceptional circumstances. Renewal of the LCSW automatically renews the individual's social worker certificate without a separate fee or additional CE.
