Per the Maryland Board of Physicians' official allied-health renewal page: 50 hours of Category 1 CME earned during the 2 years preceding expiration, consisting of at least 8 hours of Category 1 education on pharmacology topics — OR proof of maintenance of NCCPA certification (an alternative to the 50-hour requirement, not an addition). A PA renewing for the first time after initial licensure or reinstatement must obtain only the minimum 8 hours of Category 1 pharmacology and is exempt from the remaining 42 hours. No grace period: the online renewal system closes at 11:59 p.m. EST on the expiration date.
