Renewal: License renews annually; each renewal is supported by one of three lookback alternatives: 50 hours in the 18 months, 100 hours in the 30 months, or 150 hours in the 42 months immediately preceding license expiration.

K.A.R. 100-15-5 requires at each renewal one of: 50 credits in the preceding 18 months (at least 1 Category III, at least 20 Category I, remainder Category II); 100 credits in the preceding 30 months (at least 2 Category III, at least 40 Category I); or 150 credits in the preceding 42 months (at least 3 Category III, at least 60 Category I). First renewal is exempt; renewal certification is made on the board renewal form; hardship extensions may be requested. Category III content covers pain management, opioid prescribing, or prescription drug monitoring program education (K.A.R. 100-15-4(d)).
