Iowa requires 36 contact hours per three-year cycle for LPNs (IAC 655-5.2). LPNs who regularly examine, attend, counsel, or treat children or dependent adults must also complete the state-approved 2-hour child-abuse and 2-hour dependent-adult-abuse identification-and-reporting trainings every three years. CE hours cannot be carried over between cycles.
