Florida LPNs must earn one contact hour for each calendar month of the licensure cycle (24 hours for a full biennium), per Rule 64B9-5.002. Mandatory courses within those hours: 2 hours prevention of medical errors, 2 hours Florida laws and rules, and 2 hours human trafficking each biennium; 2 hours recognizing impairment in the workplace every other biennium; a 1-hour HIV/AIDS course prior to first renewal only; and a 2-hour domestic-violence course every third biennium (in addition to the 24 hours). Those licensed by examination within a biennium are exempt for that biennium; national specialty certification exempts from CE except the human-trafficking course. CE is tracked and reported through CE Broker.
