10 contact hours of continuing learning activities related to the licensee's current or anticipated OT roles, from board-approved sources (VOTA, AOTA, NBCOT, government agencies, accredited colleges/universities, accredited health care organizations, AMA Category 1 CME). Up to 2 hours may come from qualifying volunteer services (1 hour per 3 hours of service) and up to 2 hours from supervision of students (1 hour per 8 hours) — caps, not mandatory categories. Exempt for the first biennial renewal after initial Virginia licensure. The board may grant a one-year extension for good cause or a full/partial exemption for circumstances beyond the licensee's control. Rule amended effective May 8, 2025 (reduced from 20 hours).
