Renewal: License renews every 2 years based on the licensee's year and month of birth (even birth year = even-year renewal; odd birth year = odd-year renewal). CE hours are measured over the 2 calendar years preceding the year of renewal.

Details

30 clock hours of CE relative to social work practice every 2 calendar years preceding the year of renewal: 6 hours in social work ethics and 1 hour specific to Tennessee SW laws and board rules. Beginning January 2020, 2 hours of preapproved suicide prevention are required once every 4 years (per NASW-TN summary). At least one-third of hours must be in-person or synchronous learning. CEUs are not submitted at renewal; audits are conducted randomly and documentation must be kept 4 years.
