100 hours per five-year licensure cycle (ARSD 20:43:03:07); since December 13, 2021, at least 50 hours must be academic. Home study is capped at 30 hours, nutrition at 15, practice management at 10, and CPR CE at 15. Dentists holding general anesthesia/deep sedation, moderate sedation, or host permits need an additional 25 anesthesia-related hours. A current CPR card is required.
