Pennsylvania RNs need 30 Board-approved contact hours per biennium, including 2 hours on child abuse recognition and reporting. Beginning May 1, 2026, a 2-hour organ and tissue donation and recovery course applies per the final Act 90 rulemaking. First renewal after initial licensure is generally exempt from the 30-hour total but not the child-abuse training. LPNs materially differ: only 2 hours of child-abuse recognition and reporting per renewal cycle.
