New York has no general NP CE requirement for registration renewal. The NP certificate is valid for life unless revoked; the 3-year registration authorizes practice. National certification is one route to initial NY certification but is not a continuing requirement for all NPs. DEA-registered prescribers must complete 3 hours of coursework or training in pain management, palliative care, and addiction once every 3 years, with attestation to NYSDOH (a separate mandate from NP registration).
