New Jersey Physician Assistant (PA) CE category requirements

N.J.A.C. 13:35-2B.8: each applicant for biennial license renewal must complete, during the preceding biennial period, a minimum of 50 continuing education credit hours in Category I courses approved by the AMA, AAPA, AAFP, AOA, or ACCME. One of the 50 must be on prescription opioid drugs (13:35-2B.8(b), P.L. 2017 c.28). Per the May 5, 2025 adoption (57 N.J.R. 923(a)), one of the 50 must be evidence-based explicit/implicit bias training for PAs providing perinatal care, effective on the first biennial renewal after May 5, 2026. PA Advisory Committee minutes confirm first-time-licensee proration (no CE if licensed in the final 3 months of the cycle; 25 hours if licensed in the second year) and that up to 15 excess hours earned in the final 6 months of a cycle may carry forward.
