Board wording: Licenses are valid for one year and must be renewed on or before September 1 each year (by 11:59 p.m. CST per 17-02-01-13(1)); CE is earned per year. Licenses issued after July 1 are deemed automatically renewed the following September 1 without an additional renewal fee.

A license not renewed may be reinstated upon payment of past-due renewal fees plus an additional administrative fee and proof of required CE (NDCC 43-06-13(5); 17-02-01-13); no renewal is possible after a continuous two-year lapse (reapplication required). Inactive status may be elected by September 1; reactivation requires 20 hours of CE in the last 12 months plus a fee.
