Confirmed against the IDFPR Continuing Education Fact Sheet for the 2026 Real Estate Broker License Renewal and 225 ILCS 454/5-70(e): 12 hours per 2-year term — a single 6-hour Core curriculum (must include at least 2 hours of fair housing training) plus 6 hours of electives; the 1-hour sexual harassment prevention training (20 ILCS 2105/2105-15.5) counts toward elective hours. This supersedes the pre-2025 4-core/8-elective split: a 4-hour Core completed May 1, 2024–June 30, 2025 satisfied the core for the 2026 renewal (then 8 elective hours), and only 6-hour cores are accepted from July 1, 2025. Brokers first licensed Nov. 1, 2023–Oct. 31, 2025 complete the 45-hour post-license education instead of CE; a license issued within 90 days before the renewal date owes no CE for initial renewal. Illinois licenses sales agents as brokers.
