Board wording: License renewal opens Oct 1 each year; license must be renewed by Dec 31 (license expires Dec 31). CE compliance period is Oct 1–Sep 30 (Alabama fiscal year); CE not completed by Sep 30 must be completed during the Oct 1–Dec 31 re-licensure period — you may not renew until all CE is complete (Board CE notice, optometry.alabama.gov/ContEd.htm).
